Permanent makeup is taking the beauty industry by storm! A person’s life can be transformed with a simple microblading procedure, permanent lip and eye liner, areola tattooing and more. TRANSFORMING SOMEONE’S LIFE
Giving a brow-less woman beautiful, microbladed eyebrows, adding permanent color to lips and lifting one’s eyes with smudge-proof permanent eyeliner are not the only things that make this career so fulfilling. It is also the instant smiles when the person looks in the mirror for the first time after you give them the look they always dreamed of. It is the endless thank you’s because you restore someone’s confidence. It is performing areola tattooing on a breast cancer survivor’s breast after they had a mastectomy. It is knowing that you restored someone to help them feel naturally beautiful again. People will love the way they look and feel, and you will love that you made this difference in someone’s life.

The financial benefits of becoming a permanent makeup artist are also a huge perk! The graduates of SKYNSTUDIO have gone on to have very successful careers. A permanent makeup artist can decide whichever path to take whether it be working for a medical practice, medspa, salon (where legal), tattoo shop, or becoming a free-standing entity. By making this your career you can decide whatever path you would like to take and ultimately reap the financial benefits!

The microblading process applies pigments into sparse areas of the brow via the microblade to create additional hair-like strokes where needed. This process adds beauty and dimension to the shape of the brow, and highlights one of the beautiful components on the face: the eyes!
Microblading can also be referred to as:
3D Brows
Hair Strokes
Brow Strokes
Feather Brow
6D Eyebrows
Semi permanent makeup
Hand tool method

In most states you do not need training or a certification to start microblading. Like any business, you will need to set up a business license.
Microblading is a form of tattooing, and in most areas it falls under the same guidelines as tattooing. Tattooing regulations and recommended practices vary from state to state in the United States. It is also subject to body art and cosmetic tattoo/permanent makeup regulations in some areas.
Review your state’s requirements by clicking here: TATTOOING AND BODY PIERCING | STATE LAWS, STATUTES AND REGULATIONS
If you’re unable to find your licensing requirements, let us know and we can help you out!
It’s the responsibility of the student to understand the licensing requirements in their individual areas. Please note legislation and government policies are subject to change. INK SOCIETY does not guarantee or assume liability for the accuracy of this information.

As you’re looking into a microblading career, most importantly take the time and do your research about your training options and state regulations. We get a lot of students who trained elsewhere and end up coming to our courses because they originally didn’t get the training they were expecting.
Here are a few things you should know before deciding on a training provider:
Who’s really going to be training you?
Some training courses will highlight their celebrity instructor but when you get to the training you get trained by one of their assistants or some franchisee. Make sure you’re getting the training from the person you want. Remember your trainer should be a mentor and advisor to you. Make sure you like them and their work. Look into their experience and make sure they have a good track record. Do they consistently show great client/student results or are they only able to show a couple good results per year.
At SKYN STUDIO we do not franchise out or allow substitute teachers. Lead Instructor/Founder Shana Irish attends and oversees all trainings with students.
Does your training provided ongoing support?
Ask your training about their follow-up policy after you get trained! Beware, in some cases trainers travel and teach, and it can be difficult to get in contact with them. Some do not even provide continued support.
At SKYN STUDIO we feel all trainers should be willing to be your mentor and help you to succeed. Most of our students are referrals from past students, and we often hear that our students say SKYN STUDIO holds nothing back with trainings. We’re here to provide our students with the tools and support to become successful, and the support shouldn’t stop after you complete a course.
We understand once a student/artist gets some experience working on clients its most likely they are going to come across a situation or need advice. For this reason, we provide our students with ongoing support via phone, email, FaceTime, SKYN STUDIO’s private Facebook group, and in person. To get an indication of this, see how responsive other training providers are to questions you might have prior to your training.
What type of hands-on experience will you receive?
Will you have quality one-on-one time with an instructor?
What is the ratio of students to instructors in the class?
How many live models will you be working on, and will you be working on them from start to finish?
It’s troubling to hear from many microbladers that trained elsewhere with one instructor having eight or more students that they only got to practice a few strokes on a shared model with other students. You will need quality time with an instructor and hands-on experience with your models. You should leave a training with the confidence to start working on your own clients right away. The only way to get this confidence is with hands-on experience. Make sure you’re able to work on a couple models start to finish and that the instructors will be available for you.
At SKYN STUDIO, during our hands-on training, students work on 2 of their own models start to finish, and assist working on a 3rd model. There will be live demonstrations as well.
To prepare students to work on live models, we take them through our 4-step program to creating brow strokes: practicing strokes on paper, latex, molds and mannequin heads.

No online training program can give you the hands-on experience you’ll need to offer quality work to your clients. Online training alone is not enough, and should only be used as a companion to your training experience.
We often have people wanting to sign up for online training alone, thinking that they can just learn when they start working on clients. At SKYN STUDIO, we do not support this approach. You cannot cut corners. We expect all of our students to become reputable artists.
It’s common to see other trainings in the industry mislead students, advertising that an online course or video will prepare them to start microblading on clients. We highly recommend all microbladers attend a minimum of 50 hours hands-on training with an experienced instructor prior to working on their own clients.
SKYN STUDIO’s online training is a great educational program for people interested in becoming microblade artists or for seasoned microbladers needing continued educational support.
-
We have found that students typically need additional training after taking a 2– to 3-day introductory course. Microblading is a highly complex technique, and for a student to gain the proper training experience we feel they should spend an adequate amount of time going through all the fundamentals.
For microbladers who have attended other training and are needing additional training, SKYN STUDIO offers a Microblading Refresher Course and one-on-one hands-on training with Shana.
-
Yes, our hands-on training does provide a microblading training kit that will service up to 50 clients, depending on how conservative you are with pigments and supplies. All items included are the same high-quality products Shana uses.
In microblading, its very common for trainers to provide new students with a starter kit. Keep in mind, when it comes to choosing a training provider, the decision shouldn’t come down to what’s included in your “free” microblading kit.

Prior to attending any in person courses at SKYN STUDIO, all students are required to submit the following items:
Proof of blood-borne pathogens certificate. This course can be taken online for $25 and takes about two hours to complete. Click here for more information.

Copy of a current Photo ID (Driver’s license, Passport, etc)
Pay off the remaining balance of course total 2 weeks prior to class start date.
Must be 18 years of age prior to 1st day of attendance.
We also ask all students to be in compliance with their county health department requirements for sanitation and safety.

-
To secure a spot for an upcoming course, we require a $500 deposit.
To get started with the online training we require online training payment in full.
Cancellations/Non-Refundable Deposit
There is a three-business-day cooling-off period commencing on the day an enrollment agreement is signed or an initial deposit or payment toward tuition and fees is made. The contract may be rescinded and all monies paid refunded if the applicant cancels before midnight on the third business day. In case of an emergency, students may change their training to a later date if the student provides a minimum of two weeks advance written notice to the training provider.
-
We have had fair too many students who have received training elsewhere and feel they still need a better understanding. Depending on their experience, we offer a Microblading Refresher Course or our online FOUNDATION course.
If you feel like you really didn’t learn anything at your non-SKYN STUDIO training and you’re not comfortable taking on clients yet, we recommend our hands-on course. Even if you’ve already learned the microblading fundamentals, it’s a good idea to learn various strokes and techniques from other trainers so you can refine and master your own technique.
